Technical data sheet of ZB Grinding Wheels on centerless grinding machine

Origin and development
In 1963, after years of research, TIAC introduced on the market the first W1 grinding wheel, a new concept of centerless grinding for through feed grinding of short parts such as rollers, needles, shafts, pins, ect.
This product was an innovative step foward compared to commonly used abrasive of the time, because it performed for longer periods while rough grinding.
This experience fed the interest of our clients and lead to additional improvements and development.
The original W1 consequently evolved into other improved designs, as W1M, W2, W2F and W1M extra, until in 1994 the first ZB series wheel was sold.

More than a super abrasive
Today the ZB wheels continue to evolve as we pursue our research and development efforts at TIAC.
It’s current stage of evolution allows our customers to remove a big amount of stock and finish typically in one pass.
Where customers may use 2,3 or more passes to achieve the desired stock removal and finish, TIAC’s ZB can accomplish all stock removal and finishing in a single pass.
This is typical of ZB performance and we have 40 years of case studies and laboratory data to support these incredible claims.
In addition to big stock removal and finishing typically accomplished in one step with the ZB Technology, it also offers the durability near to that of CBN or Diamond abrasives, at a fraction of their cost.

Where it is used
The ZB grinding wheels are used only for through feed centerless grinding of short parts.
Materials that are commonly ground include chrome alloys, tool steel, carbon steels, stainless steels and bearings steels.
The key benefits gained by using ZB Technology vs. conventional abrasives are:
- Great increase in productivity and stock removal.
- Ability to maintain critical dimensions.
- Excellent work piece quality.
- Reduced cost of production.
Currently the largest dimension centerless wheel being produced measures 24’’x 20’’x 12’’.

Conclusion
Because of our considerable experience with ZB grinding wheels we’re confident that this incredible technology is unlike any you have tried previously. It will reduce the number of the steps reqired to produce your finished specifications resulting in substantially increasing your profits.
